Current officers of the JNC

Mr Riki Trivedi, President

Riki is probably best recognised within the UK & Ireland neurosurgical community as a strong advocate for promoting high standards in cerebrovascular surgery and minimally invasive surgery, and also for his roles in education and training, both nationally and internationally. He currently steers the British & Irish Brain AVM registry on behalf of the BNVG, and has recently been appointed to the council of the SBNS. He has supported research, service development and training in neurosurgery on a global stage for the past 5-6 years, and intends to support the JNC's mission in advancing neurosciences to a wider audience.

Mr Nick Carleton-Bland, Secretary

Mr Nick Carleton-Bland BSc, MSc, PGCert, Dip. Interprof.Spine Care, MBBS, MRCS, FRCS(Neuro.Surg) 

Nick has an established track record within neurosciences education as the National Director of Online Neurosurgical training (the GAIN program), the Training Program Director for Neurosurgery in Cheshire Mersey, the Founder of the National Liverpool Neurosurgery Masterclass Series and is a lecturer on the international EDISC program.  He is a FRCS examiner, sits on the SAC and the NICE Robotics Committees and won the 2024 Parliamentary Award for Education for his work within surgical simulation.  He works as a consultant neurosurgeon in Liverpool.   Nick believes in the JNC mission to deliver to neurosciences education for all neurosciences stakeholders.


Dr Romi Saha, Treasurer

Dr Saha MA (Cambridge), BMBCh (Oxford), FRCP and PhD (London).  Dr Saha studied at Cambridge and Oxford Universities Medical Schools before PhD in molecular neuroscience at Kings College London. Rather than an academic career completed Neurology postgraduate training in London. 

Appointed consultant neurologist Universities Hospitals Sussex in 2005. Dr Saha is primarily a general neurologist who treats a broad range of conditions from migraine to MS and epilepsy. He has been neurology clinical lead and led on neurological curriculum development for Brighton medical school. He is currently involved in neurology post graduate education and training and providing sub speciality expertise in Parkinson’s and movement disorders working both in Sussex at Kings College University Hospital for advanced therapy options. Dr Saha is a member of the ABN movement disorders sub speciality interest group and lead for the Sussex Movement disorders network.
